Bristol Reservoirs Fly Fishers Association

Welcome to the B.R.F.F.A. website

The inaugural meeting of the B.R.F.F.A. took place 38 years ago in Bristol and the aims and objectives of the original members are still being followed today. We are dedicated to the promotion of the sport of fly fishing and the interests of fly fishers.

Locally the sport of fly fishing can be just an occasional visit to your favourite water such as Barrow Tanks, Chew Valley Lake or Blagdon Lake, or it can be to compete against some of the country’s best anglers who have come to enjoy their sport on one of our marvellous lakes.

Whether you chose to fish occasionally or dedicate yourself to competitive fly fishing, then there is plenty of scope in the waters provided by Bristol Water.

By joining the B.R.F.F.A., you can benefit from some of the following:

Club Competitions - sponsored by Orvis, Snowbee and Bristol Water plc., these are a great way to meet like-minded anglers with that desire to hone their competition techniques. (We usually hold both boat and bank sections at these events.)

Public liability insurance - Through club membership anglers will be covered by up to 2 million pounds in the event of accident.

Represent your club - we enter teams into the Lexus European and the Anglian Fulling Mill events, and in the Association of Major Clubs, which is run on a league basis.

The Three Lakes Challenge - instigated last year after generous sponsorship by The Mall Galleries, this event featuring a bank competition on each of Bristol Water’s venues, lead to the donation of a sizeable cheque to “our” charity – The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, and some fun fishing days on each of the lakes.

B.R.F.F.A. has over the years provided many anglers for the England team.  Legends of the sport such as Chris Ogborne, John Braithwaite, Steve Pope and John Horsey all started out as ordinary B.R.F.F.A. team members.
